PICTURE DAY
Picture Day will take place on Saturday, February 11. We will be taking headshots of all the students on this day to be used in future show programs. The schedule was notified earlier in an email and it is also posted in the lobby.
PRESIDENT'S DAY
In observance of President's Day, the studio will be closed Monday, February 20th. We will reopen Tuesday, February 21.
TASTE OF MIAMI LAKES
Tell friends and family to come to this family event, which takes place on Saturday, February 25. We will have a booth and some of our kids will be performing.
DANCING FOR THE CAUSE
We are working diligent to prepare for our first annual fundraiser "Dancing for the Cause" which will take place on March 24, 2012 in the Miami Lakes Middle School located at 6425 Miami Lakeway North, Miami Lakes. All proceedings will be donated to Relay for Life. Tickets will go on sale next week.Please tell everyone you know about this entertaining way to help others and sale as many tickets as you can! Every donation counts.

Classes Offered
With a commitment to Classical Ballet, the studio offers several levels of Ballet, Technique and Pointe classes. We also offer several levels of Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Flamenco and a special Jumps & Turns class to broaden our dancer’s skills and prepare them to follow a dancing career path if they choose to.
Ballet Classes:
Pre-Ballet (3 – 4 years old). This class meets once per week. Children will dance and move in a stimulating environment focused on group interaction and dance discipline. Children must be 3 years old and be ready to participate in class without parental supervision.
Ballet L1 (4 – 5 years old). This class meets once per week. Emphasis is placed on the discipline of Ballet in a fun and interactive way while learning basic techniques and terms.
Ballet L2 (5 – 6 years old). This class meets twice per week. Children continue to be introduced to basic ballet skills, proper alignment, coordination, barre exercises and proper classical ballet technique. Pre-Requisite: Strong knowledge of basic ballet skills.
Ballet L3 (7 – 9 years old).
This class meets twice per week. Dancers continue to improve their technique as the program evolves into more difficult exercises. Building the grace, poise and strength required to execute the more demanding technical work in our Ballet program. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Ballet L2 and/or evaluation from our Artistic Director
Ballet L4 (9 – 11 years old). This class meets twice per week plus an Additional Pre-Pointe class is offered to introduce dancers to Pointe. Classes focus on both physical and intellectual understanding of how and why each movement should be executed. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Ballet L3 and/or evaluation from our Artistic Director.
Ballet Int 1 (11 & older).
This class meet twice per week. Students encounter more rigorous training focusing on strengthening feet and ankles to prepare student for pointe. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Ballet L4 and/or evaluation from our Artistic Director. Movement through the Levels is purely up to the discretion of the faculty. The faculty may require a student to repeat a level as necessary to ensure the proper training and development of the student.
Ballet Adv 1 (12 & older).
This class meets twice per week in addition to the proper level of Pointe class the student is assigned to. This level continues with rigorous ballet training techniques with attention to detail, more intricate musicality and increased amount of pointe work. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Ballet Int 1 and/or evaluation from our Artistic Director. Movement through the Levels is purely up to the discretion of the faculty. The faculty may require a student to repeat a level as necessary to ensure the proper training and development of the student.
Ballet Adv 2 (13 & older). This class meets twice per week in addition to the proper level of Pointe class the student is assigned to. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Ballet Adv 1 and /or evaluation from our Artistic Director.
Ballet Level Senior by Audition Only (14 & older). Students in this Level have demonstrated a commitment to the studies of Classical Ballet and have achieved a high level of technical skill. Students in this class are required to be enrolled in a minimum of three Ballet Technique classes per week and attend class regularly. Students in this class will be the future company members of Ballet Ouvert.
Adult Ballet Classes (14 & up). This class offers adults of all ages who have never taken Ballet classes an opportunity to learn basic ballet skills and for those willing to continue their Ballet training, it provides the skills necessary to incorporate into a higher-level class.
Pointe Classes.
Students will be placed on one of the levels of Pointe depending on their strength and development. The Levels are as follows: Beginner Pointe, Intermediate Pointe, Advance Pointe, and Senior Pointe. Pre-Requisite: It is mandatory that the students take 2 classes per week of flat ballet according to their level.

Jr. Company Ballet
Company Ballet
Jazz Classes (Ages 5 & Up):
Jazz Level 1 (5 to 8 years old). This class is designed for students who have had no previous jazz dance experience and introduces the young dancer to Jazz in a fun and interactive way.
Jazz Level 2 (9 to 12 years old). This class is designed for beginner to intermediate students. Class will focus on learning proper jazz technique and terminology. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Jazz Level 1 or evaluation of Jazz instructor.
Jazz Level 3 (13 and older).
This class is designed for intermediate students and builds on skills learned in previous jazz levels. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movements and includes warm-up, stretching, conditioning, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Jazz Level 2 or evaluation of Jazz instructor.
Jazz Level 4 (13 and older).
Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well-rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Jazz Level 3 or evaluation of Jazz instructor.
Jumps & Turns.
This is a special class only offered to our jazz registered students that will help increase the students’ strength and endurance. Designed to work each dancers’ body, concentrating on the core muscle groups so vital to helping dancers improve their technique and control.
Contemporary Classes
Contemporary 1 (10 – 11 years old). Designed for intermediate students with previous training in ballet. Students will explore dance exercises combining basic techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern. Pre-Requisite: Prior dance experience intermediate or evaluation of Jazz instructor.
Contemporary 2 (11 and older).
Designed for advanced students with previous training in ballet. This class emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Contemporary 1 or evaluation of Jazz instructor.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop Boys (Ages 10 & older). Introduces the young dancer to urban street dancing.
Hip Hop Int (12 & older). High energy class that infuses the latest styles of urban street dancing. Hip Hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Hip Hop 1 or evaluation of Hip Hop instructor.
Flamenco
Flamenco 1 (8 to 10 years old). Beginner classes cover the basics of flamenco technique, providing an introduction to flamenco rhythms and how to use palmas (flamenco clapping) as an accompaniment to flamenco music and dance. The sessions are suitable for all students including those with little or no experience in flamenco music or dance.
Flamenco 2 (10 and older).
Stronger in-depth approach to technique, footwork, markings, turns and focus on stylization. Pre-Requisite: Completion of Flamenco 1 or evaluation of Flamenco instructor.
Bollywood
Bollywood (Ages 12 & older). This class requires prior Dance Experience (Intermediate to Advanced).
